Careers @ Seawork

Training & Careers Pavilion
With a focus on skills, learning and employment, this pavilion, open on all three days of Seawork, gives visitors the chance to explore opportunities within the commercial marine industry. Exhibitors include specialist recruitment companies, education centres and training organisations, many with apprenticeship schemes, all offering expert advice on how to start and maintain a successful maritime career.

Careers Trail
We will be implementing a new career’s trail this year using QR Codes. More information will be available on this shortly.

Training & Careers Day – Thursday 15th June

Seawork, Maritime UK and the Solent LEP come together at Seawork to present an exciting careers event on the final day of Seawork, 15th June 2023. 
 
Students and young people, aged between 15 and 19, can attend: 

  • A Careers and Training Fayre  

  • “Commercial Marine has Talent”, a live presentation by a variety of people working in the industry.  

AND tour Seawork, speaking to exhibitors, visiting the pontoons, going onboard vessels and taking part in our video competition with an opportunity to win some great prizes. 

Opportunities for Exhibitors: 

CAREERS AND TRAINING FAYRE 
A fantastic, concentrated opportunity for Seawork exhibitors to inspire the future generations and open their minds to new ideas.  

Exhibitors will have a table “space” and can bring pop ups, literature and giveaways. The students will be keen to hear about: 

  • Qualifications / job roles 

  • Entry levels for roles / company 

  • Apprenticeship opportunities within the organisation 

  • Salary expectations  

  • Career progression / opportunities 

  • What is fun / different / exciting / rewarding about working for you 

  • Example day in the life of….

SPEAKERS 
We welcome engaging, fun speakers with a great story covering all areas of getting to where they are now. You could be: 

  • Someone who has completed an apprenticeship or university 

  • Someone who has left school and gone straight to work 

  • A career’s advisor in the industry
